Dispatchers that create the schedule, need to know the fleet size of airplanes so that they can schedule routes and plan accordingly. Customers like to be one newer and up-to-date aircraft. This could be a consideration for the airline to have and would give their customers the best flying experience they can have. There are a lot of considerations to be think about for an airline to decide on how they want their fleet to look like. Reflection 3I have never really thought about airlines renting airplanes. I have always assumed that they purchased them. After further research, I found that airlines prefer leasing planes rather thanpurchasing simply to be able to operate the aircraft without the high financial burden and to provide temporary increase in capacity, if needed. There are two main ways this is done. Wet-Leasing where the leasing company provides everything; the aircraft itself, pilots, cabin crew, maintenance and insurance and is usually short term. The second method is through Dry leasing which is for longer term leases. The leasing company provides the aircraft without crew. These are options that I could use in the future if needed.
