some intriguing contrasting melodies in the song. The part of the single that goes “you know it’s gonna make it that much better,” is a prime example of this harmonic switch up that enriches the single. The texture of this single is like most music that I like. It’s texturally rich and thick, abundant with a plethora of instruments and backing vocals such as accordion, piano, guitar, saxophone, bass and more that create a piece that’s entertaining to listen to. The intro with the first 7 seconds of the song before verse kicks in is an undoubtedly thin guitar section. After the first verse is where the texture really begins to get rich with the scatt vocals. The texture of the entire song is stained with the influence of Phil Spector and his Wall of Sound technique. The timbre of “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is undoubtedly a colorful one. The bridge that goes “you know it seems the more we talk about it” offers a nice shift in the main timbre but overall there is a nice hazy consistency throughout the song. A factor as to why Pet Sound is so critically acclaimed is for how rhythmical innovative and technically composed the album was, and ”Wouldn’t It Be Nice” exemplifies this better than any song on the album. The rhythm itself of the single seems to be a moderate to moderately fast one, but it’s the little intricacies of the song that make it interesting. There’s a variety of rhythms that go on throughout the song, almost as if it is abstracted in a way. Finally, the form may be a bit misleading as all the verses repeat the title of the track, but the song begins with an intro and then follows a Verse - Chorus -Verse - Chorus- Bridge-Chorus form. The repletion of the title throughout the verses along with the technical mastery is what helps to make “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” an American masterpiece.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
