4 2007, p.213). When playing with the baby doll they learn over time that they are meant to be a girl or gender stability meaning the understanding that gender does not change over time (Kuther, 2007, p.213). The behavior that they child is constructing can show that they are understanding who they are as a girl that plays with her baby doll. While having this baby doll, the child can also grow an emotional attachment to the baby doll. This baby doll may create emotional responsiveness which is the positive emotional responsiveness promote preschoolers’ emotional and social competence (Kuther , 2007, p.201). The baby doll is like a human baby doll. The child will treat the baby doll as if it is its own baby. They will take care of the baby and care for it as they were cared for by their own mother or father. The child will learn parenting styles or how they will be when they grow up to be a parent. Parenting style is the emotional climate of the parent-child relationship, the degree of warmth support, and boundaries that parents provide (Kuther, 2007, p.201). This parenting style can be learned by the parents support to the child, which is shown through the behavior of the child to the baby. Some children either one don’t like taking care of their baby dolls because of how they were raised or not raised. If they care good for their child and love on the baby doll, it also shows emotional development from the mother or family to the child. They have then learned how to behave with their own child and other people around them. Children tend to mock what they see. If the child does bad, usually they are disciplined. I personally would take away their favorite toy. My favorite toy was always my baby doll. If my mother took my baby doll away, I knew I had done wrong. I would do good in order to get my baby doll back. This is where I learned discipline. My mother used inductive discipline which is methods which use reasoning, are effective alternates to spanking in changing a child’s behavior (Kuther, 2007, p.206).
DO TOYS HELP A CHILD FROM AGE 3 TO 11 LEARN OR DEVELOP CERTAIN SKILLS? 5 These toys may help develop a child’s language because the kitchen set and the baby doll may talk. This is a good influence because the toys usually can go along with their culture. The cultural influences that they have on a child are great. Each culture is different by their grammar, speech, vocabulary, and their learning theories.
