you last week buying expensive clothes. I kind of needed money to do something this weekend, if you don’t mind. Brendan: I’m sorry. It’s just been hard. My family and I don’t have much money and I don’t like to askmy parents for money because they work hard enough to feed and care for my siblings and I. I got a little money from working a job these past weekends. My mom’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to buy her some nice things because she’s never able to buy herself anything. That’s why you saw me buying those clothes last week. I will work a job this weekend to make the money to pay you back. Riley: I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that, Brendan. I honestly felt you were avoiding having to pay me back, which upset me because you’re my friend. But I just wanted to go out this weekend with some friends. It’s not even a big deal, so don’t worry about paying me back. And if you ever need anything or even a friend to talk to, don’t hesitate.Brendan: I really appreciate you understanding me and listening. Thank you, Riley.2.In both conversations, be sure to show the difference in how Riley starts, what she assumes, and what she shares.
In the closed conversation Riley came towards Brendan, aggressively, just attacking, but in the open conversation, she talked to him instead of assuming she knew everything. She also shared how she felt about the situation to Brendan.
