Richard attended Far Rockaway High School where he starred in numerous math competitions. As a senior, he won the New York University Math Championship. Feynman’s application to college was not as idyllic as people may assume. While he was great in math and science, he received extremely low scores in History, English and other fine arts. He was

Raven 2rejected, for example, from Columbia. He ultimately chose to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1939. Initially interested in mathematics, Feynman found the courses easy and was concerned by the abstraction and lack of application within the Math degree and the department in general. He eventually switched his discipline to physics. As a second year, Richard took graduate level Theoretical Physics lectures and was very interested in quantum mechanics although there was no course offered on the subject; he read any books he could find regarding the subject, most notably, Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac’s The Principles of Quantum Mechanics. He received his doctorate from Princeton University in 1942. Feynman was married three times and he had two children during his third marriage, Carl and Michelle. Richard developed two rare forms of cancer LiposarcomaandWaldenström's macroglobulinemia. He died shortly after a final attempt at surgery on February 15, 1988 at the age of 69.
As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.
Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern
I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.
University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern
The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
