My rabbit has a "bunny-proofed" room, a litter box, a sea grass mat, toys, and hiding places, as speciffed by the House Rabbit Society. At least z hours a day she gets the whole upstairs. She loves to explore. She gives me "bunny kisses" and jumps up on the couch when I'm watching TV. She eats a variety of fresh greens, timothy hay, and pellets. She is an absolute joy. Sometimes she's so happy she jumps straight up in the air and twirls. What kind of life did the'fryer" rabbit have? She lived in a small cage with several other rabbits. She had no toys, no greens. Rabbits are prey animals, and it's essential that they have a place to'hide; this rabbit had none. She was never let out of her cage, which meant she never had a chance to use her strong hindquarters and to see how fast she could run. She never hopped. lmagine a rabbit that never hops. She didn't

even have a solid floor. Rabbits, unlike cats and dogs, have no footpads; standing on wire all day creates chronic soreness. She never had a chance to make a decision, to experience variety. She never knew one speck of human kindness. Simply put, she had a miserable life. I can only imagine how she was killed, since rabbits have no protection under the Humane Slaughter Act.
