In addition, since every team is able to measure other team’s performance, the competition among businesses is healthy in comparing performance indicators like profits, sales, and customer satisfaction (Market, 2005). At Whole Foods, the main vehicle for competition is an elaborate system of peer reviews by which teams benchmark each other. However, they collaborate in sharing knowledge and best practices, for its natural for people to collaborate and compete. Innovation Innovation affects everyone. It should not be that the business tasks are only assigned to centralized offices, and coming from the top-down the organization. In contrary to this, Whole Foods basic unit is the team within a decentralized organization structure. Teams are mainly responsible in improving jobs and developing new ideas through respecting the core values.
