1. W ho controlled power and most knowledge before the Enlightenment? The church was the ultimate authority on how the world worked and what you should believe in. 2. H ow is science connected to The Enlightenment? Which famous scientist lived and did his famous work during this time too? Scientists always seek the truth and although they are constantly revising it and finding out new truths, they know it's out there and it's something for them to strive towards. The scientific method works in any situation and gives the power to the people to question everything around them like natural phenomenons and alchemy. Sic Isaac Newton had introduced the scientific method and insisted on a new approach in science. This method lead to a greater development in science because through the scientific method each hypothesis stands to take the other down and continue on having science prove itself. 3. Ho w did scientific advancements help Enlightenment thought towards rulers and people in power? What is reason too? The scientific method had a large impact democratically. It essentially said that no power and no person can tell you what reality is. This made a lot of scepticism into all of the powers that were previously questioned. People started to take control into their own hands and rely much less on God and religion to give them all ofthe answers. 4. What are some major ideas that came from The Enlightenment The main ideas that came from The Enlightenment was that every social, political, adn economic problem could be solved through the use of reason. Governments are created to secure an orderly and safe society and separation of powers is the best way to protect freedom. ANother main idea was that all Men were created “free and equal”.
