Students will also be using their problem solving skills. They will have to decide when to use the funnel and what should be done prevent spillage. Hand and eye coordination will be used as their eyes and hand must work together in order to have precise aiming when pouring. Scenario 2 - After discussing flowering plants and taking students out in the garden, students and teacher will return to classroom. - Teacher will present a number of cut out shapes and craft items to students. - Teacher will model how to create a flower from items presented. - Teacher will then present a pictures of flowers discussed in the lesson for reference. - Teacher will explain to students that they need to choose wisely the flower they would like to create based on the items presented. - Students will use first decide on the flower they will like to create. - Students will select their items and begin Creating their Art work. - Teacher will guide students by moving around and drawing reference to the picture they have chosen. - Students will move items as necessary to ensure that their art work closely represents an actual flower from the lesson. Scenario 3 Make a book - Teacher will present a picture book to students. There aren’t any words in there so teacher makes up a story. After relating the story using pictures in this book, teacher asks students whether they would like to change or add any part of the story. Teacher entertains students’ suggestions and writes the story down on Bristol board so that it 3
E01 Careers in Early Childhood Education can be read together. Teacher reads along with students and turns to the relevant pages as they read. - Teacher presents another picture book to students. This book is large enough for the entire class to see. - Teacher will flip the pages one at a time giving students time to think about what they see - Teacher will flip the pages again this time students will be asked to give a simple sentence about each picture orally. After listening and discussing. The sentences presented by the students about the picture will be written on strips of Bristol board given by the teacher (strips will be cut to size of book). Class will decide on the sentence to be written and stuck at the bottom of each page. In order for the lesson to benefit the: - Gifted – This child will write the sentences to be stuck on each page. He will be asked whether he wants to add anything extra to the sentence. E.g. more adjectives.
