Presentation Procedures for New Information and/or Modeling: Activity Description/Teacher Student Actions The turn-and-talk strategy will be used for students to discuss their predictions about the newly introduced vocabulary words that will be presented during the lesson. The teacher will give clear definitions and she/he will create an anchor chart for the entire class to refer back to during the lesson. Students will be taught to round by using a number line. 259 ---------200---------250---------300--------- 259 rounds to 300 (nearest 100) Students will write the following in their math journal: When working with a 5 or greater in the tens place the hundredths number will round up and you will add two zeros to the end of the number. If you have a 4 or less in the tens place the hundredths number will stay the same and you will add two zeros to the end of the number.
