Course Policies:Please turn off cell phones during class.This is a student research focused lecture/seminar style course. Students are expected toattend classes, read the assigned chapters of the textbook in addition to otherrecommended and/or researched readings/materials, prepare the assigned topics prior toclass, and to actively participate/contribute in class discussions. This is of utmostimportance so the class meetings serve as platforms for selected topic discussions withinclusion of current information published in the news, guest speakers, cases, video clipswhenever applicable and possible.Portion of the class time will be dedicated to the assessment and clarification of issuesaddressed in the readings, to add examples that illustrate the concepts/topics discussed, toconduct current environmental discussions.Students are responsible for asking colleagues for the missing class discussion topics andnotes and for checking Classes for updates for the following class meeting. If you mustmiss a class or if there is any problem that will affect your performance as it relates tothis course, bring it to my attention beforehand. A last minute “phone call” or “email” justbefore a class or a project is due explaining that you are having a problem is neitherreasonable nor acceptable. Should you anticipate/know that you can’t attend X classes,please do consider taking this course at another time. Class time will be dedicated to theassessment and clarification of issues addressed in the readings. Any class absent due tosickness, for example, proper document justifying waived absence needs to be submittedNO LATER than the class immediately following the absent class. No later documentwill be accepted.
