11. Define and explain what causes the treeline . The treeline is the elevation above which trees cannot survive, and it is caused by the differing summer temperatures and moisture availability at different latitudes. 12. What is the difference between an adret slope and a ubac slope ? How and why is vegetation likely to be different on an adret slope and a ubac slope? Adriet slope – a hot and dry that receives sunlight at a high angle. Ubac slope – receives sunlight at a low angle, more abundant vegetation. 13. What is riparian vegetation ? Trees that only grow along streams in a dry region. Terrestrial Fauna 16. What are some basic characteristics that distinguish plants from animals? Plants stay in one place, they use photosynthesis for energy. 17. Describe the distinguishing characteristics of mammals. Hair, produce milk to feed their young, endothermic. 18. What are the advantages of animals that are endotherms ? An endothermic animal’s body temperature stays about the same in any climatic conditions, so it can live almost anywhere in the world.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
