Characters in fiction thwart this may come with too

Characters in fiction thwart this = May come with too little, too conflicting or too biased information for us to make a sound judgement Concluding Comment - ‘Above all, I want to show that we can go beyond Dowell's view and see light where he chooses to see only darkness. The Good Soldier appeals to us today largely, I believe, because it presents us with a wholly absorbing narrative, which pulls us into its uncertainties and asks us to make sense of them. It gives us the information and clues we need to do this, but makes us work carefully and warily, without benefit of the guidance usually provided through authorial control: it puts us strictly on our own. It teaches us how difficult it is to know and judge people in a complex and uncertain fictional world, very like our everyday world. But it does not teach us the impossibility of knowing and judging. To learn that lesson, we would have to turn to different works - or to critics who plunge every work into epistemological darkness.’

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
