transition from Hellenic (Classical) to Hellenistic gave way from the philosophy of the citizen’s relationship with polis or city-state to the world of cosmopolis or world-city. The city-state was no longer ran by the citizen’s but by bureaucrats and appointed officials. The Greek citizens now became little more than a number under the control of the bureaucratic kingdoms and as a result lost their identity (Kreis, 2010). So, in order to compare the two time periods and the elements that shaped and changed the culture of Greece, we have to understand the primary focus of the people and the Greeks desire to explore and understand the world and universe around them. For Example, the Hellenic period invented philosophy that had a quest for the truth. The Hellenistic Period witnessed philosophers who focused on the reason to solving problems than attaining the truth. In literature we see a great faith in humans and all the beauty that life had to offer from the Classical Greeks but during the Hellenistic period that all changed. The writing became more based on make believe worlds rather than what was the universal truth. The art of
