A simulation lab creates a space for a relaxed learning environment that enhances teamwork, collaboration, confidence, and opportunity for effective feedback. From a study done in a simulation lab on how to respond to a mass casualty incident, there was a significant increase in the positive attitudes (Kim & Lee, 2020). The people involved reported that the teamwork was high and efficient, as well as the leadership and team coordination that was learned during the simulation (Kim & Lee, 2020). In this study, the simulation lab was proved to enhance positive attitudes about a change in a new technology or policy. A retrospective cohort study was conducted by the department of obstetrics and gynecology to evaluate the impact of a simulation-based training lab on surgical outcomes (Reşit Asoğlu, et al, 2016). The comparison was made over five years and focused on different types of hysterectomies. The results of the study concluded that the simulation-based training allowed the surgeons to perform the surgery with the patient having less blood loss and a decreased length of hospital stay (Reşit Asoğlu, et al, 2016). This evidence is an example of how simulation-based training has a positive, direct outcome on patient’s health and the quality of care delivered is an important factor. In the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management , the identification that simulation enhances medical care was proven (Yeow & Chen, 2020). The withdrawal of mechanical ventilation was designed in a three-hour simulation session to show and teach medical professionals the variety of end-of-life scenarios (Yeow & Chen, 2020). The simulation was reported that it enhanced the knowledge base as well as the practical experience of performing an end-of-life extubation (Yeow & Chen, 2020). This simulation lab is an example of how the healthcare providers can provide patient-centered care because he or she can practice and feel confident with the medical side of withdrawing mechanical ventilation and give time specific to the holistic care of the patient. The change of the organization constructing a simulation lab in each building will greatly impact patient-centered care. Patient-centered care is defined as the healthcare professionals are involving the patients by information sharing, collaboration, inclusion of decision-making, and feeling heard. The simulation lab gives the healthcare providers the opportunity to learn, make mistakes, gain confidence, a time for questions, and receive constructive feedback. With one
