happening she was going up to a dime store and was stealing them, so Shannon’s mother told her she was not allowed to be her friend anymore, and that she wasn’t allowed over to her house and Brianna was not welcomed back at her house. Shannon can remember finally being able to walk alone to school by the end of seventh grade, she thought she was all grown up. Back then they didn’t have school busses and the schools located in every town so that kids could walk to school. By the end of seventh grade Shannon had made two new friend, which both of them initiated the friendship. One was her school buddy and the other was her friend that she walked to school with. The friend she walked to school with was the total opposite of Shannon she had dark hair and was heavy set and Shannon at this point in time was still considered small for her age. Her other friend was her best friend all throughout high school, her name is Franny. When Shannon was around 13 or 14 years old she got her period. Her mother never talked to her about it before or even after she got it. But she did have to tell her mother so that she could buy her pads. Back then their where no tampons and the pads were huge and rough, so Shannon hated getting her period because her legs would rub raw. Shannon never really noticed any other physical changes during puberty such as hair or pimples.

Eighth grade is another part of Shannon’s history that would change her life forever. There was a Presbyterian church that threw Friday night dances from seven to ten at night. This is where Shannon met the love of her life and now husband for fifty-seven years. Shannon said that back then girls didn’t go to dance with boy they went to dance with their girlfriends and the boys would stand around and watch them dance to the jitter bug and the twist. Once in a while they would play a slow song at the end and that’s when boy and girls would dance together. Shannon and Richard met at the dance and then that’s the first time he walked her home. It was a big deal because Shannon’s house was about five blocks from the church and then Richard had to walk twenty blocks home, after that it was just many years of dating. About a week later Richard got her phone number from one of her friends and called to ask her on their first date. Their first date Richard brought his mother along which Shannon was shocked about, but all of them went to the New Brighton carnival. Shannon said that she would eat in front of him so he bought a cherry soda with two straws they shared that and went on the rides while his mother played bingo. Their first kiss was at a friend’s Halloween party Shannon would’ve been in 10 th grade and Richard in 11 th and all their friends continuously said you’re the only ones who haven’t done it, so they kissed.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
