IMPACT ON PERSONAL NURSING PRACTICE If this bill is passed, nurses all over the country reap the positive benefits Staffing requirements will help address the nurse shortage in the U.S by aiding in recruitment of new registered nurses and improving retention (GovTrack.us, 2020). Many nurses leave direct patient care because of the high demands and inadequate staffing (GovTrack.us, 2020). If not passed, there will continue to be a shortage of direct care nurses in the U.S. Hospitals will still struggle to retain nurses and recruit new nurses. Patient safety will continue to be at risk due to unsafe staffing.
