III.  What skills and/or experiences will you need to gain to excel in this career area, and  how will you gain these skills/experiences ( minimum  five   complete sentences )? A skill that I will need to gain in order to be successful in my career is to learn the financial paperwork that comes with running a store. The store manager is responsible for all of the accounts payable and accounts receivable for the store. Some stores have an office manager who handles these tasks allowing the store manager to verify it only. The store manager does not actually have to complete it. The store manager still needs to know how to manage the paperwork in case of the office managers absence. Another task I need to learn in order to be successful is pre boh. (pre balance on hand) Pre boh is when the manager takes a future sales ad

and previous results from former sales. He analyses them in order to determine the quantity that should be ordered in order to cover the predicted sales volume. The store manager is solely responsible for this task therefore it is imperative that I learn it. IV.  What are some of the obstacles or challenges you might encounter as you work  towards achieving this goal?  How will you respond to or strive to overcome these  obstacles/challenges?  What resources might be helpful (  minimum  five   complete  sentences )? My biggest obstacle that I find myself encountering as I work towards this goal is working night shifts. At my current level of management I am required to work 2 nights per work when I am working full time. Once I am promoted to store manager I will be required to work 2 nights per week. Right now I am considered a part time employee due to the work load of my other job. I will need to be full time again before I can be promoted. I am told there is no way around the 2 nights a week. I have small children and no other adult in household at this time. When I am working at night the responsibility of taking care of the girls falls upon my 16 year old daughter. I will strive to overcome this obstacle by attempting to negotiate my schedule with the district manager. I will suggest that I work 6 longer days and no nights. I will still put in the required 48 hours per week however no nights. I can also suggest that I work two nights only every other week. I can do two nights on the weekends when the girls go with their father. My last resort would be my resources. I can ask my Mom or Dan to come and stay with them when they get home from school until they go to bed. Jessica can take over at that point and I would be home shortly after.
