lives were like and it is no different than how we live today. The child being locked away and nobody coming  to help it is very similar in our society today. Yes, many people would have the urge to save the child but if it  risked your own childs safety or your families safety you may react differently. Or what if the punishment was  death of your own child if you even fed the child being locked up? We do not know the situation and  therefore we can not judge them for what they did to protect their own family. However, I felt really bad for the  child and I would want to help it but not at the risk of my own family. In China about a year ago a toddler was  walking the streets outside of where her mother worked. Nobody was watching her and she got ran over by a  van. Not only did she get ran over by the van but she got ran over 3 or 4 more times by different vehicles  throughout the time. There were many people who walked by her and did nothing. Cars slowed down when  they passed or swerved to miss her but nobody stopped. About 10 minutes later a man was taking out the
