47Despite his controversial stances, the perpetually influential nature of John Calvin’s theology speaks to the Scriptural roots of his theology. By building his theological doctrines on the solid bedrock of God’s Word, John Calvin’s expositions have served to timelessly bolster the foundations of the early Protestant church. In the spirit of 2 Corinthians 13:5, contemporary church leaders would benefit from the prayerful study of Calvin’s process of Scriptural sanctification in hopes of “examining themselves,” and testing their traditional held viewpoints against the authority of Scripture. JohnCalvin’s desire to glorify God above all else led to his hermeneutical interpretive approach of Scripture and should continue to inspire seminarians, theologians, and true Christ followers to never stop challenging their own view of theology in accordance with God’s Holy Word.
