Mendel’s Laws Linked genes are genes that are usually inherited together in genetic crosses because they are genes that are located on the same chromosome. Nonlinked genes are genes that are usually inherited in separate ways and not together. They are inherited separately of one another. --- How are mitochondrial, Y-linked and X-linked disorders inherited? Mitochondrial disorders are inherited from an individual's mother. Y-linked disorders are inherited from the father and only males can experience this disorder. Every male would end up having the disorder within the family pedigree. Caused by genes located on the Y-chromosome.
