human trafficking problem society faces today. Each factor depends on the state or coun- try to which they occur. As said before, the most common factor that affects victims is their living situations. Although this type of slavery can impact those in dangerous environments, truth- fully, it can happen to anyone. When it comes to symbolic interactionism, one would find that it is a theory heavily involved with human trafficking. Human trafficking is against one’s will. It is not a choice. Often times it is a way that a trafficker’s can provide a prom- ise of a better life to the victim living in poverty. However, it is a trick that gets victims stuck into slavery. Unlike kidnapping, many people are involved with each aspect of the trafficking. There are those who work the recruiting side as well as transporting individu- als and selling them. Society’s change must start from within. There are those who cannot find a job, or have low income, that are intrigued by the promises of traffickers. Social reform is a posi- tive focus when it comes to human trafficking. It is a movement to bring on these type of changes in society. It may be small and push only gradual changes, but changes none the less. It is change that needs to be made for the greater good, as every person on this planet has a right to their own freedoms. This is a reform that anyone can be involved with, including students, to raise awareness of the social issue at hand. There are many organizations and events that people can be involved with that fight against this type of modern-day slavery.
