“Classics new and old” resident (regional) theatre : Greeks, Shakespeare, Moliere, Ibsen, Chekov, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, etc. (pre-1960’s). Occasional productions of (translated) shows from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Audience: Mostly older upper middle class traditional theatregoers, some school field trips, especially to Shakespeare shows Spaces: large theatre (500 seats), medium second space theatre (300) THEATRE COMPANY 4. “Popular favorites” resident (regional) theatre : primarily musicals and comedies; some dramas or performance pieces with “buzz” such as August: Osage County. One major holiday show every year. Audience: Large range depending on the show, plus some field trips Spaces: large mainstage (600 seats), medium second space theatre (300), medium- small third space theatre (200)

THEATRE COMPANY 5. Experimental company : avant garde, political, and new work. Mostly contemporary work, with some avant garde pieces from the 1920’s- 1950’s in Europe (Artaud, Brecht, Beckett, etc.) and some pieces from the 1960’s in the US and Britain (Sam Shepard, Harold Pinter, pieces from the Living Theatre, Open Theatre, LaMama, etc.) Audience: Mostly younger “artsy” folks and college students, some shows attract a wider audience due to subject matter and/or positive press coverage Spaces: rented medium theatre (300), rented black box (75), various environmental spaces
