Employees have been welcome to bring their own laptops, smartphones, cameras, flash drives, and other equipment to the workplace and connect them to company computers as well as access the internet, intranet and email with no company oversight. Due to concerns from clients, you have decided to implement a new policy on personal electronic equipment. The new policy states that employees must register all personal electronic devices that they bring into the workplace, including personal computers, data storage devices, camera phones, cell phone cameras, digital cameras, video cameras, or any other form of image- or voice-recording devices. This equipment may not be connected to company electronic systems unless expressly permitted to do so by the company. The registration process involves an inspection by the company security staff during which the employee may not be present.
