8Running head: PRINCIPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT E. Improving Employee EngagementThe goal and outcome of employee engagement are to increase the number of CRRN certified registered nurses in the facility. With the increasing number of CRRN nurses in the facility, compensation, retention rate, promotions within the organization, a higher level of patient care (This is an incomplete sentence). Currently, Pam does not have any registered nursesthat hold a CRRN certificate. This is because we have more licenses practical nurses versus registered nurses. I believe that it is essential that the number of registered nurses in the facility holding CRRN certificates increases. It has been proven that when nurses hold certificates in their field of specialty, their knowledge, skills set, and attention to providing high-quality care to the patients and their families improve (Stone, 2017). An improvement goal is that at least 50 percent of registered nurses in the facility will obtain their CRRN certified within one year. This goal will be accomplished with the help of the nurse manager and corporate educator. These two nursing administrators will educate the nursingstaff about the importance of obtaining CRRN certification. After an informational section has been completed regarding CRRN certification, a staff meeting with all nursing staff will be held to determine the number of registered nurses that are interested in becoming CRRN certified and being compensated for doing so. Once interest is determined, we will promote and pilot the new education plan. After developing the education plan, the educator and nursing manager will worktogether, offering a prep course for the certification exam to interested nurses. Upon reviewing the materials for several weeks, prepared nurses will sign up for and take the national certification exam. After nurses have successfully passed the exam, nurses will be compensated

An increase in pay will be provided to those nurses that hold the CRRN certified, and more responsibility and autonomy will apply to these registered nurses. An evaluation of an employee engagement plan will be conducted by reviewing data after a year to determine the increase in CRRN certifications and compensation, which may conclude if there is an increase in staff retention. E1. Leadership Best PracticesTrustworthiness and open communication are major leadership practices that can improve employee engagement. Nurse leaders should be able to communicate the vision, values, goals, and success stories to the unit to reinforce the values of the organization to keep staff engaged.
