Caring according to most scholars is viewed as showing and feeling empathy and concern for others. As this definition shows, caring is a feeling, which necessitates a certain behavior. Dr. Jean Watson’s caring philosophy is renowned among nurses ( Lachman, 2012). The theory entails three elements notably transpersonal caring relations, carative features, and the caring occasion. Carative factors concentrate on honoring the human aspects of nurses’ work as well as the personal experiences of the individuals they serve. Examples of carative factors in nursing practice include developing and maintaining a helpful and trusting connection, being available, and supportive, in addition to expressing positive emotions to the person under care ( Noddings, 2018). To build this caring, trusting alliance with a patient, nurses ought to be aware of any judgmental sentiments. In particular, caring compels nurses to establish deep connections to their spirits on top of the patients’ spirit. Watson’s caring model proposes that nurses must examine every patient’s individuality and undertake all possible measures to protect the patient’s rights. The second aspect, intrapersonal care relations, involves nurses’ moral duties and caring consciousness to make purposeful connections with their patients ( Lachman, 2012). The final

Lachman (2012) describes the development of the concepts of ethics of care over the past three decades in three versions. To begin with, Gilligan pioneered with a discussion on the setting of the problem versus unbiased reflection of the ethical concern. Objective deliberation is a component of justice-based ethical reflection and does not consider the levels of care or intimacy in the relation ( Lachman, 2012). Gilligan was one of the first philosophers to inspire a paradigm shift shifting moral theorizations from a place where selves were perceived as autonomous to a place whereby selves are interdependent and interconnected. Unfamiliar persons would be unable to access similar levels of care as those for whom an individual has personal duty. For instance, a person may consent to caring for their neighbor’s dog while the neighbor is away; however, this is incomparable to consenting to look after one’s brother at home while he is under hospice care. Care exists on a scale, with distinctive levels of emotive attachment for persons in caring relationships. In addition to Gilligan, Tronto has contributed immensely to nursing practice, particularly in the domain of political philosophy. Tronto argues that if nurses concentrate on caring alliances and power practices, such as taking care of the sick and raising children, a fundamentally distinctive set of societal arrangements will surface ( Noddings, 2018). Similar to Gilligan and Watson, Tronto asserts that nursing practice entails duty-based and responsibility-based ethics.
