You have two options for submitting your field notes: You can type your notes into the space below and upload your journal to the Canvas assignment for Journal 2.4 (doc, docx, PDF) OR you can submit a photo or scan (pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, tiff) of your handwritten notes to the Canvas assignment for Journal 2.4. DUE DATE: This assignment needs to be completed by 11:59pm the day BEFORE your Discussion Section in Week 7 . Field Notes I am doing the same thing as my last participant observation, just trying to optimize and engage more with the people I interview. I’ve noticed last time that my conversation didn’t always go question by questions some people wanted to talk more and have it like a conversation and some people just wanted to get it over with fast. So, I’m going to try to take quicker notes so that the person I’m interviewing feels like I’m more involved in the question. 5 Anthropology 104 | Field Work Project 2
1.Vague broad definitions of gender and sexual identity not sure they really understand the difference, disengaged but still sitting with me, same vague broad attitude when defining transgender and nonconforming, felt confident when saying you shouldn’t just ask someone their gender identity, didn’t seem too comfortable sitting with me, this person is from Milwaukee, Wi 2.Said the gender identity and sexual identity are the same thing or should be are the words they used, doesn’t think it’s a mental disorder but said that it is something that you can ‘fix’ , transgender means you undergo surgery to change your biological sex, nonconformity means that you don’t like your biological sex so you cat differently, each answer hurt to hear but I had to act like I had no opinion, this person is from outside the city of Las Vegas, Nevada 3.Has taken multiple classes on campus on gender and anthro has done similar projects to the one we’re doing, gave exact definitions of gender identity and sexual identity, kind of like straight from a textbook, same with transgender and nonconformity, spoke exactly like a professor would so I couldn’t pick out their personal knowledge or opinion, this person is from Green Bay, WI 4.Told me they’ve never taken classes but have had a lot of experience dealing with hate on these topics but I didn’t ask why because I didn’t want to be disrespectful, gave strong definitions of gender and sexual identity and clearly understands what they mean, nonconformity is doing whatever you want without thinking about what anyone would think of you, this person is from Los Angeles, CA Journal 2.5 | Final Analysis & Reflection Instructions & Expectations Write your analysis & reflection by responding to each of the questions below.
