It helps to provide an understanding of an individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living (Ball et al., 2015). Functional impairments and cognitive problems are prevalent among older patients and can be improved with early recognition and treatment. The geriatric depression scale (GDS) can also be given due to the increased risk of depression in the geriatric population. In this particular scenario, disabilities and increasing age can contribute to the effects of one's mental health. Targeted QuestionsTargeted questions will facilitate comprehensive examination and allow patients to discuss more information regarding their health openly. Five targeted items needed would include: 1. Are you able to perform activities of daily living independently?
