AssessmentsThroughout each day's lesson I will be looking at their completed work to assess thestudents based on how they are progressing through the English Language Arts and writingstandards. Their writings and answers to questions will allow me to understand if they areunderstanding the lesson and story and whether or not they are able to account for sequencedevents. I will be observing them and trying to understand if they are building off of previousstandards they should have worked through. .My assessments are formative and summative. Ichose the specific assessments to use because it allows for me to get a better understanding ofwhat exactly I need to do to further each student's progress when it comes to writing progress. After each lesson I will collect each student's work and put them in their personalportfolios. I will be checking out each student's work as they are working and after class in orderto see if I need to change and modify my instruction to either a faster pace, a slower one or both.I Will be taking anecdotal notes whenever possible and taking mental notes about students’ bodylanguage and frustrations and questions during the lessons. The main summative assessment willbe their end letters to their future selves. This will help me determine if they truly learnedanything from the whole lesson and if they improved on their writing from before the lesson andeven during the lesson.Annotated BibliographyLights Down Reading.(2019, July 26).When I Grow Up By Al Yankovic | Children's BookRead Aloud. It is useful because it allows for me to have mymodification to the lesson ready and at hand. The read-aloud itself is at a steady pace and has theability to be paused or played at a slower or faster speed if necessary.Primary Madness With Mrs. Genna.(2020, March 21).How to Write A Friendly Letter -For Kids. Youtube. This site is a video I will use to start the lesson on letter writing. The video is friendly andthere isn't too much information at once so the students will not be overwhelmed. The videoexplains the main components of a letter, has an example and the person in the video goes
Vinson 7through and explains things. This is an amazing source for me to use to enhance the lesson onletter writing.Journal Buddies.(2021).30 First Grade Narrative Writing Prompts. Journal Buddies. This site is very helpful to me. It is a site that has 30, grade appropriate, narrative writingprompts. This is a great tool because some students struggle with boundless creativity, so if Ihave some more details for them to follow they can use it. The fact that there are 30 allows thereto be at least one that every student would like to use and can build connections off of. All of the
