P. Compliance with College Policies 1. This course will adhere to the Code of Conduct and Academic Policies and Procedures (Grading System, Academic Integrity, Confidentiality of Student Records, Disability Accommodations, Add/Drop/Withdrawal, Grade Appeal Protocol, Registration, etc.) as contained in the Jefferson School of Pharmacy 2011-2012 Student Handbook that was distributed at the start of the academic year and that is available online on the JSP Student Organization page in Blackboard. 2. Registration Status: Students are responsible for the status of their registration at all times. The instructor will advise that a change in status has occurred when so informed by the College/University. Only students who are properly registered and who appear on the official class roster can remain in this course and earn credit and receive a grade. 3. Class cancellations : Cancellations due to weather or other emergency will be announced on KYW AM radio (school closing number: day 173, night 2173) or on the TJU emergency hotline (1-800-858-8806).

August 28, 2012 7 Appendix B – Reflection Papers Reflection Assignments: Each student will prepare and submit one personal reflection relative to the topic of cultural competency. Each reflection should be no more than one typed page in length. Reflection offers you the opportunity to think critically about cultural competency and how you will be able to apply what you are learning to your future as a healthcare professional. Suggestions for Writing Reflective Entries (Adapted from the Criteria and Assessment Feedback Form for Service Learning Journals developed by St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Tom Zladick, Ph.D.) • A reflection is not a work log of tasks, events, times, and dates. It should include information about sights, sounds, smells, concerns, insights, doubts, fears, and critical questions about issues, people, and most importantly, yourself. Honesty is very important. Write what you believe, not what you think other people (including faculty) want to hear. The What? So What? Now What? Model of reflection should be utilized. A true reflection contains three components: What? ( Describe ): a descriptive component in which the events are described So What? ( Examine ): an examination component in which the event(s) are explored and feelings/reactions are discussed Now What? ( Contemplate and Plan ): a contemplative, planning component where plans are made for future encounters. Reflection Paper Grading Rubric Content Elements 0 Points 2.5 Points 5 Points Identifying the ‘What’ The student does not achieve/present this.
