Can the Wii U come back from a poor 1 st  year performance? by most that  Wii  was chosen primarily because of its simplicity and also because it sounds like ‘we’, which emphasizes that, the console is meant for everyone. Lastly because “ii” in Wii  is symbolic of the 2 unique controllers that the Wii comes with and the image of people gathering to play.  v Features  The Nintendo Wii was the ultimate system that took over the living rooms of many homes world-wide, and what made it so popular was its unique motion-sensing remote that was used to navigate through menus and to interact and manipulate objects within games by moving and pointing the remote in different directions. It was unlike any other remote ever produced and the novelty of the remote was the Wii’s primary sales pitch. The remote was also equipped with an in built speaker that gave more in game feedback to the user. Another feature of the remote that struck the interest of many was the Wii Nunchuk, which could be hooked up to the Wii remote in certain games like Wii Sports for boxing and movement of avatars on the screen. The small size of the remote and the nunchuk meant that it could easily fit in the hands of children and adults alike. The Wii was also the first of Nintendo consoles to have Internet access and could connect wirelessly to other handheld Nintendo products like the Nintendo DS and 3DS systems. vi   The Nintendo handheld devices were already very popular among the younger audience and only helped to boost the Wiis popularity. The Nintendo Wii was the first console launched by Nintendo that had internal memory of 512 Megabytes and an additional bay for an SD memory card that could be used to launch downloaded games. The Wii also features easy to use parental controls that allow users 5
