The driving force to the changing American diet is the 32 billion dollar food marketing machine and the continually shifting ground of nutrition. During the age of nutritionism, the questions on ‘what to eat’ got complicated. Professionally, the campaign on dietary advice, in any case, has not made people healthier. Instead, it has made people less healthy and considerably fatter. In the defense for food, it is good to understand that what people are consuming nowadays is no longer food and how it is eaten up like when watching, walking around, is not eating. Scientists and food marketers have confirmed that today what matters most is not food but nutrient. Only the scientists can identify the nutrients and therefore should help answer the question of what to eat to remain physically fit and healthy.
