to be happy. Ebert would have dreams and he told people “Never yet a dream where I can’t talk” (Jones). He would dream and in his dreams is where he would do the things that he couldn’t do in his real life. Although he couldn’t physically do what he wanted to, dreaming of the things that made him happy were what made his life valuable? To be happy, even in the worst situations, show that you can have a valuable life.

Farren 2 Deciding on how to determine if one’s life is valuable is something entirely something that can’t have a dollar value to it. But what if we do assign that dollar value to someone’s life? How much would a person be worth? Would a poor man be less valuable than a rich man’s? Amanda Ripley wrote an article about the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, titled “What Is a Life Worth?” In her article, she writes about the “price tag” that the government has assigned to all those who died in the attacks on 9/11. Ripley writes that, “Some view the money as a halfhearted apology for the breakdown in security and intelligence that made the attacks possible. Others can’t help seeing the award as a callous measure of their loved one’s value”
