he could not raise the money that was needed for me to get the education that I had always desired. I decided to apply for a loan to cater for my education. A local financial institution granted me $400. However, I was not able to continue with my post-secondary education in my area since most of them were private institutions and very expensive. I felt like my dreams had just been crushed. Nonetheless, I did not give up, and I relocated. Realizing that I had no alternatives, I took up odd jobs. I got a job at a local children's home where I took care of children from various backgrounds. There were situations where I got to attend to more than six children at a time. It was an uphill task, but still, I managed to do it because of my need for money. I created a special bond with most of the children and what was a job now turned out to be an enjoyable practice. I used some of the money to pay for an X-Ray-technician program. My employee was happy about my job, and he raised my payment. This could have been a breakthrough as far as my dreams were concerned, but another problem occurred. My mother got critically ill and had to be admitted to hospital. This occurrence affected me both financially and emotionally. I could not concentrate on my studies. I failed a course and was not able to redo the examination and therefore, I had to quit the program. I decided to invest the little money that I had in my account in a small business after the recovery of my mother. During my free time, I worked in a local school in the special education department. I got to learn about the special treatment that these students need and the role teachers play in their success. My job was to help the students to do basic things such as bathing and dressing. I met many students most of which had autism. The teachers in the school were very
