Note: Design each network “on paper” first and then use Microwave Office or ADS to tune and analyze. Submit your final circuit schematic and frequency response plots for each design. For the microstrip designs: substrate ε r=10 Substrate thickness, h = 0.381 mm Conductor thickness, t = 10 μ m Conductor metal = Au F 0 = 15 GHz for designs Plot from 12-18 GHz for designs 5. Design a quadrature hybrid (branch-line) coupler to achieve a 3dB split at the output ports. Simulate the following design using microstrip and the material properties above. Using one of the simulators, plot the following: a) Input return loss (S11 mag in dB) b) Coupling (S21 and S31 mag in dB) c) Isolation (S14 mag in dB) d) Directivity (S34 mag in dB) 6. Design a 20 dB three-section coupled line coupler with a maximally flat coupling response, centered at 3 GHz and Z 0 = 50 Ω . Design the coupler and find Z 0e and Z 0o for each section. Simulate your results and plot the coupling (in dB) from 1 to 5 GHz based on a microstrip implementation of the coupler on a substrate having ε r =4.2, d=0.158cm, tan δ =0.02, with copper conductors 0.5mil thick. ### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
