Failure to attend the health literacy lecture series will result in 20 percent decrease in your overall lab score . Missed Laboratory Sessions Attendance is required at all laboratory sessions for all PharmD courses including a laboratory component. Completion of all laboratory assignments by the end of the semester is necessary for successful completion of the course. More than one unexcused absence (see details below) from a laboratory session will result in failure of the course. Excused Absences For an absence to be considered excused (e.g., for illness), the student must contact the course coordinator(s) prior to the start of the laboratory session via email or telephone. Please see Communication Policy for further information. If the absence is due to an illness, a doctor’s note may be required. The missed laboratory session(s) must be made up. Students completing the makeup laboratory for an excused absence will be eligible to receive full credit. Unexcused Absences If a student fails to contact the instructor prior to the start of the laboratory session, the absence will be considered unexcused. The missed laboratory session(s) must be made up.

Students completing the makeup laboratory for an unexcused absence will be eligible to receive full credit for doing so; however, 10% will be deducted from the final course grade. Makeup Laboratory Sessions Makeup laboratory sessions will be scheduled in close proximity to the middle of the semester for any sessions missed in the first half and in close proximity to the end of the semester for any sessions missed in the second half. The content of the makeup laboratory will be comparable to the activities carried out in the original delivery of that particular laboratory session and at the discretion of the course coordinator(s). The student will be assessed on the knowledge and skills contained in the original laboratory session.

2. Tardiness Students must be punctual for all laboratory sessions and remain for the entirety of the laboratory session unless directed otherwise by the instructor. Students arriving late (i.e., after the start of lab but < 5 minutes for a 1-hour lab) or leaving prior to the completion of all laboratory activities for that week, will receive a zero for that week’s participation. Students arriving late per the definitions above or leaving prior to the completion of all laboratory activities for that week more than two times in a laboratory course will receive a failure in the course. If a student arrives 5 or more minutes late for a 1-hour lab, they will be asked to leave the lab, and this will be treated as an unexcused absence. Said student(s) will be required to attend a makeup laboratory session to demonstrate their mastery of the missed material. While full credit may be earned for the completion of the makeup laboratory, 10% will be deducted from the final course grade. 3.
