feelings for Tina, however it is hard to do so when his bloodsucking identity comes in to play. Tina is another prime example of Two-ness; she stuck between seeing the good side of Mauwalde as well as his dark side. She has to decide whether to turn him into the police or trust him and run away with him (Blacula 1:20:12). Even though Tina knows about Mauwalde killing people she can not find herself to dislike him. As shown in the movie when they tell her that he has killed many humans she responds with “I already know” (Bracula 1:15:19) since she has been exposed to his caring human-like identity and has fallen in love with him. Another example we can see in the film The overall theme of “Two-ness” and “Double consciousness” is seen through the main character and the supporting female actresses. The film Blacula demonstrates the battle between two identities and one body. This theme follows the concept W.E.B Dubois presented that African Americans had to combine their African descent with their American identities into oneself. This also portrays how African Americans at the time were not fully respected by the fact that when Mamuwalde asked Count Dracula to end slave trade he laughed and then turned him into a vampire.
