In Latin America, the belief in the strength of an evil eye originated from Spanish culture that had strong superstitions. Mexicans and most people in Central America believe that their children are very vulnerable to evil eyes from evil neighbors and relatives. They have developed two ways of preventing their children where the first one comprises protective amulets which contain a spot in the form of an eye which they wear as a necklace. Another defensive way is letting an evil person touch their children, and similarly, a person wearing an item of clothing or ring containing an inducing charm dispel that envy or bad intention. In South America, they interpret evil eye as an involuntary action that may take place by one glancing at children, animals and things like vehicles which may result in damages, sickness, death in animals and young children, and loss of employment or properties ( Crook, 342).
