The data that was gathered from this investigation is the grams of copper (Cu). This information will be analyzed by the mole to mole ratio of the reaction and the percent yield of copper in both reactions. Using the mole to mole ratio was useful due to the fact that it is used as a conversion factor between reactants and products. It was imperative to gather this data since it is critical, in order to finish the calculations towards the end of the experiment. Section 2: In order for the hypotheses to be tested, it was critical to follow the procedure. The procedure started with the blending of 8.0g of copper (II) sulfate with 25.3mL of water; then the water was heated to 50° - 75° C. Next, the iron was included after the water and copper (II) sulfate were finished warming. After the copper (II) sulfate finished warming, the fluid had to be decanted. Finally, it had to be washed with acetone, it had to dry for 20 minutes, and then the solid copper had to be weighed. When the experiment started, the beaker weighed 129.47g.
