of this prime example of fake news. All in all, Hess’s article on the variations of twitter bots illustrates Leetaru’s argument by showing a prime example of the spread of fake news in action. In addition, her piece also challenges his argument by alluding to the idea that fake news is not important and should simply be ignored. In Hess’s conclusion, she states “Let the bots hunt down anti-Semites, diver anti feminist trolls and crowd out the propaganda bots. I think I’ll take a nap” (Hess par.14). By concluding that she’s going to take a nap instead of stressing over the overwhelming population of Twitter bots, she is suggesting that the controversy is simply lax and just a minor complication in Twitter and therefore it is not necessary to stress over or try to be

In conclusion, Hess’s article on twitter bots as well as Caplan’s piece on the spread of fake news across Facebook extends, complicates, illustrates, and challenges the claims made in Leetaru’s article, “Why Stopping ‘Fake’ News Is So Hard”. In his piece written shortly after the election, Leetaru makes several claims surrounding the current issue of the spread of fake news, how it affected society’s view on the election, and how it is impossible to completely eradicate fake news due to differing views on what is true and what is not true. Caplan extends, challenges, and complicates Leetaru’s claims by agreeing that it is not so simple getting rid of fake news, but she states that it is possible to achieve and provides a logical solution on how to resolve the issue, therefore contradicting Leetaru’s claim. In addition, Hess illustrates Leetaru’s definition of fake news by providing real life examples of fake news across twitter but challenges his claims by stating that it is not something to stress over and doesn’t need to be resolved; it should just simply be ignored. That being said, based on the information provided, I agree with Caplan’s claim that it can be resolved and I found her example of Germany’s new legislation very interesting but I also agree with Leetaru that it’s not so easy getting rid of it based on different perspectives on what’s true and what’s fake.
