less incentive to commit these horrific crimes.Some organizationshave been created to combat human trafficking due to the stories that have been in the news,but these organizations are overwhelmed and underfunded.[Nan07] To help these organizations the average person needs to be aware of the signs. The public should be educated to recognize the indicators that someone may fall prey to traffickers. Consumers must be conscientious and informedabout where their clothes are made and who is picking their vegetables. Parents need totake away their teenager's computer privileges if they are communicating with people they do notknow. Human trafficking is a serious social problem that needs more awareness, education and harsh penalties. The best prevention is for everyone to “say something’ If something seems suspicious it needs to be brought to the attention of law enforcement and organizations that can help.Change can only happen when awareness is accompanied with a desire to eliminate human trafficking and the courage to get involved and to speak up.4
