Due Dates, Deadlines, and Time Zone Differences ----------------------------- o All due dates and deadlines in this course are in conjunction with Arizona MST (Mountain Standard Time) . If you reside outside of Arizona or outside of the United States while taking this course, you are responsible for taking into consideration the time-zone differences and making any time-differences calculations and adjustments that are necessary to complete your assignments on-time (according to Arizona MST). This includes time-zone changes that occur seasonally due to Daylight Saving Time. Confusion regarding time zones is NEVER a reason for an extension. Course Timing --------------------------------------------------------------------------- o You will have access to two modules at a time (i.e., two weeks of work). Assignments, Check Points, and Quizzes will be available during the full two week time. Additional modules beyond this two-week time will not be made available to individual students. Grading ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Grading Policies: o Your grade in this course is a reflection of your efforts. You EARN it, I don’t “give” it to you. You must follow the instructions, do the assignments as posted, answer the outlined questions, and complete them on time to earn your points. o I do not curve grades and do not drop your lowest score. o If you stop participating in the class without officially withdrawing, you will receive a course grade based on the number of points you earned up to that point. Extra Credit: o The ONLY extra credit opportunities I offer will be those given to all students. Please don’t ask for more or to do additional work for credit. LATE WORK: o Late work is accepted for full credit up to 24 hours past the deadline. After this point, graded coursework becomes unavailable. Extensions beyond this are rare, are given at the discretion of the instruction, and reserved for significant extenuating circumstances. This 24-hour window is meant to be your “safety net”. Do not treat it like the due date. o Late work is NOT accepted during the final module of the course!!

SOC390: Social Statistics 1 Fall 2019B Visconti 9 Requests for Incompletes: o Incompletes are reserved for students who have been actively and successfully participating in the course throughout the semester and then experience a life- altering emergency. Eligibility for an incomplete will be determined on a case by case basis. What if I have a question about, or want to dispute, a grade I received? o Once your grade is posted in Canvas, you have one week (seven days) from the due date to email and ask a question about or dispute the score you received. After this point, your grade will stand as it is. Documentation of submitting work o It is extremely rare that work will go missing in Canvas. However, I would still encourage you to take screenshots of your completed work that include both the date and your score , just in case.
