In psychoanalytic theory, crime is viewed as a deficiency in one’s personality. It was thought of by Sigmund Freud, who believed that the person’s id, ego, and superego is connected to their crime. 5. What is the M’Naughten Rule? How did this rule come into existence? The M’Naughten Rule excuses the reason of insanity in court. The rule came to existence after crimes were being committed by people who weren’t in a healthy mind when they committed them. It was named after someone who killed a Senator, but it was argued he was innocent because he suffered delusions during the crime. 1.
