Obama's administration ceased the practices due to the demise of innocent civilians. The primary objective of the strategy according to Savage & Schmitt (2017) is to implement strict policies over terrorism. The decision of government can be associated with Foucault thoughts. Foucault’s notion that government employs practices that ensure its subjects are governed can be observed in the article above. To my understanding, the government's mentality to apply the harsh treatment of terrorists is directed at pleasing a huge section of the American people thus making them subjective to the government. The government of the United States made the calculated decision based on the sensitivity of the terrorism issue and making it to ‘catch’ the attention of the public.
