company needs to technologically educate those farmers further. Apart from logistics required by the production process, purchases of office supplies and equipment too consume huge amount of funds. Previously, all purchase proposals had to be submitted to the Department of General Af- fairs and Purchases (DGAP). It rendered the process slower and more expensive since the DGAP might not be familiar with all kinds of purchases. For instance, office supplies were relatively easy to be managed by the DGAP, but the purchase of slide projector might be difficult such that the search and information costs soared. After the implementation of ICT, each division is granted rights to purchase supplies and equipment as they can find suitable prod- ucts through internet and other communications channels. Operations ICT implementation leads to the au- tomisation of several stages in the production process. The production was manually planned and machineries were run manually too. The utilisation of various production and operations software has replaced some of the manual pro- cesses, making the operations quicker and more precise in quality. Besides the SAP Supplier Relationship Management, other SAP applications such as SAP ERP, Manufacturing, Analytics, Supply Chain Management, and Product Life Cycle Management also help enhance the business operations. Factory managers can better esti- mate and manage the production capacity by using the planning software, getting information from supplier and customer relationship manag- ers, and seasonal analysis. All of these analyses are invigorated by the applications of ICT in the company, leading to enhanced coordination amongst divisions. Besides, CPI has equipped all staff with internet-connected PCs (desktops and note- books) and required employees to use corporate e-mails as the primary means of communica- tions. This policy tries to save expenses such as telephone costs, paper and printing expenses, or staff travelling expenses. Since people have in- ternet connection, communications interdi- visions can harness the messenger technology provided by Yahoo! or MSN. The company itself is establishing internal chatting systems that can connect CPI employees throughout the country; this system is similar to “same time connect” of General Electric. Subsequently, in its endeavours to in- crease qualified information flows, the company has been subscribing to various on-line content providers in many fields, such finance (Wall Street Journal, Financial Times), strategy and consulting, science and agricultural research, technology, etc. Hence, it is expected that man- agers and employees are able to get real-time access to information and to plan and imple- ment excellent strategies accordingly.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
