on how to love, behave, and interact with one another on earth. I say love each other, because true love will get you through those hard times and over those tough hurdles. Lastly, do whateverit takes to keep a smile on your significant other’s face. In short this means make the necessary sacrifices and if necessary, go above and beyond.Over the years I have many failed relationships and I have even been married before and thus far in my experience the requirements that I mentioned are the only thing that really matter. Couple need to know how to love one another and how to take care of each other’s hearts. Furthermore, I believe that couple should work within their talents or take on roles that benefit their marriage. That means if she is better at being the head of the household and you are better at taking care of the kids than that how your marriage should work. People are happy when they are relationships are functional and its dysfunction that brings about the problems that lead to divorce.
7. In your own words, describe the different theoretical perspectives above and comment on how you view the social institution of family today. That is: Functionalism, Conflict, and Symbolic Interactionism.(10 points out of 70 total) I would describe the theoretical perspectives of Functionalism, conflict, and symbolic interactionas follows:Functionalism – The ability of a family to perform the essential functions necessary to be contributing members of a society. Adults and children are socialized, and emotional support is given to those in need during times of difficulty or crisis. Sexual activity and reproduction are regulated by the family and not reckless or random. Members share a joint identity as well as an individual social identity that reflects the core values and morals of the family. Conflict – Social inequalities experienced, both inside and outside the home, that contribute to economic and patriarchal hierarchy. Family can also be a source of conflict and this includes physical violence and emotional or verbal abuse to its own members.Symbolic interactionism – Inaction between family members to include those between intimate couples that have a shared meaning or understanding of the situation. An example would be a wedding. Wives and husbands communicate with other members of the family in different styles for various reasons including maintaining stability. Expectations for spouses in marriages are predicated on social class and on each other. Romance is the basis for American marriages and dating relationships, but there may be exceptions to the rule based on the families’ customs and traditions.
