Individual Project 1 6 to new data as it was being processed rather than waiting on emails from individuals that may or may not get to their destination. 3. Some of the technologies took time to be fully integrated because of the lack of participation from the employees. They were still used to simple emails and adopted the collaborative technology at a slower pace. 4. Compare P&G’s old and new processes for writing up and distributing the results of a research experiment. One of the old processes of how P&G employees distributed documents was by copying and pasting information on Microsoft Word files and physically handing out copies of the documents to the workers. They also tried to email presentations to specific employees, but they ended up being distributed to a larger group of people by accident. P&G then began distributing information through browser-based portals where the host would have their presentation set up and only the individuals that were meant to see it would be able to log on to the portal and view the documents. This gave the company more control over who saw the information 5. Telepresence allows employees to directly communicate with each other regardless of their location. As long as they had access to the internet, a party of individuals could have a conference and share their ideas over video. This allowed them to make decisions quicker and efficiently. 6. Can you think of other ways P&G could use collaboration to foster innovation?

Either through their Blackberries, iPhones, or Android smartphones, individuals could download presentations or documents straight from the portal and even participate in conferences through text messages and video calls. Although it may not be as effective as working from a PC, it allows them to connect from more places. Chapter 3: 1. What competitive strategy are the credit card companies pursuing? How do information systems support that strategy? Credit card companies are now mining data on their customers for their spending habits.
