Q3. Describe how various factors influence behaviour: (1.3) A – Intrinsic
B – Extrinsic For of all there is changes to routine, and one of the most commons reasons for behaviour that actually others may find challenging is a change to routine as routine provides reassurance for some individuals whom have autism and any form of disruption to this, however minor, can actually be really distressing. There is also transitions, and a transition is actually anything that involves change from one thing to another, for example, such as a change of school or a divorce or separation or even a house move, as these are actually similar to a change of routine, it is actually quite easy to see why they can actually cause upset for individuals whom have autism. Also, actually preparing in advance for a transition may help to actually make it smoother and also less traumatic for them. There is also Inadvertent reinforcement of negative behaviour and this is because when something is reinforced, this actually means that is it likely to be repeated because the individual has actually received some form of reward and as an example, if an individual shouts and also swears but actually gets attention because of this, the attention actually acts as a reward and this means that the individual will actually shout and also swear again and this is because they like the attention they actually get from it.
