Which of these would be involved in fighting the infection in the current case study? The fever response I think would be most involved in this case. The patient is experiencing a high fever and needs to sweat. The body sweating acts to cool the patient’s body causing his body temperature to decrease. Some microbes possess defensive enzymes that protect them from the elements of nonspecific immunity. List three such enzymes possessed by pathogens and how these enzymes help the pathogen to invade the host. Collagenase-degrade molecules and lets bacteria invade deeper tissues. Breaks down collagen. Coagulase-causes blood proteins to clot and provides a hiding place for bacteria Kinase-digests the clots and allows invasion of the damaged tissues. Conclusion From the tests, I was able to find that the bacteria causing the patient’s symptoms is Salmonella typhi. This bacterium causes typhoid fever. Since we were able to determine the cause of the symptoms, we can treat him according to his illness. Through this lab, I also learned the importance of nonspecific and specific defense.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
