These Ethical guidelines will help them guide their decision-making process and helping them understand the concept of ethical working standards within the coding professionals whether you are credentialed or not. AAPC focuses on giving educational and professional certification to those physicians and medical coders. “This promotes the standards of medical coding by providing training, certification, networking and job opportunities.” Certifications display professional’s knowledge when it comes to proper billing and coding. Both organizations promote the ethical standards of medical coding and AHIMA’sguidelines on code of ethics. While they both perform different things for HIM and medical coders, they have the same principles of following the code of ethics. I think for me the AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding hold the most meaning.
